The ambition behind this work is to introduce poetry into everyday gestures. The creative team of Saint-Louis has identified the first object for a new interpretation: the “English water glass”. This emblem of the Glass Factory was for many years (1867-1937) the symbol of Saint-Louis Crystal Glass-works.
An everyday object, it had pride of place on night tables and fulfilled a precise need, quenching night thirst. A testimony to its owners privacy, the night carafe today embodies the poetry of an object which has long since been replaced by bottles of mineral water. Saint-Louis has worked with the International Glass Art Centre (CIAV) to carry out this contemporary rendering.
