It was in the cutting workshop at Saint-Louis, where expert crystal workers perfect their creations, that Ionna Vautrin’s eye was irresistibly drawn to a dozen chandelier arms sprouting from a cardboard box. A little later, after discovering how filigree could give glass its own internal movement and rhythm, she threw herself into her project and thought up inspired ways of incorporating flowers, leaves and stems into her new lighting collection. The result is the “Saule” (“Willow”) collection, baptised in honour of its crown-like profusion of crystal branches.
