An iconic and timeless Saint-Louis collection, Apollo was chosen for its delicate aesthetic. With its Venetian ribs and iconic thistle flower shape, an inspiration that dates to 1913 at Saint-Louis, the Apollo is perfect for tea tasting.
To create the crystal pieces in the Apollo collection, the master glassmaker first captures the imprint of the Venetian stripes in a mold by applying molten crystal and blowing gently. Then comes the creation of the shape of the thistle flower. Blowing this particular shape requires powerful lungs to push the hot crystal against the walls of the mold, thus creating the bulge. This operation demands great dexterity, as the glassmaker must also keep the Venetian ribs straight throughout the process.
