NOÉ DUCHAUFOUR-LAWRANCE

A luminous and delicate dialog
Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance naturally joined the Saint-Louis community with her poetic and elegant designs. With the Folia collection, he is proposing a delicate dialog between matter and light, of which the mini portable lamp is a part, a subtle blend of technology and craftsmanship.

As a teenager, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance developed an interest in design before enrolling in the ENSAAMA (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art) where he learned the basics of metal sculpture before continuing his studies at the Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

In 2003, he founded his own design studio, which marked the beginning of multiple collaborations with emblematic furniture makers and Maisons of artisanal expertise. Throughout his career, each encounter with a manufacture and its craftspeople has inspired a project connected to a particular technique. With Saint-Louis, he has created a lasting relationship with the Folia collection, which echoes the Moselle forest that surrounds the manufacture.

An art of living collection for the entire house

Folia has taken its inspiration from the material of the crystal, to highlight its inner magic, its capacity to diffract light. It was following this principle of organic creation that I conceived a collection that is modular and scalable, in order to illuminate different spaces, from the most architectural to the most intimate. ”, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance.

The Folia collection is extensive and includes all types of objects, whether they be lights, small furniture, decorations or tableware. Around thirty pieces make up this family with round shapes and a multitude of cut bevels, interpreting the cut of the crystal as a backdrop for geometric and organic shapes. Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance took his inspiration from the leaves of the Moselle woods that surround the manufacture to design this motif that is hand-cut and cold-worked onto the crystal. He relied on the craftspeople of the manufacture who used hot glass forming and cold cutting techniques on the entirety of the collection. Two of the manufacture’s emblematic techniques that are listed by UNESCO as part of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage.

Folia mini portable lamp, light at your fingertips

After the success of the Folia portable lamp, Saint-Louis developed a mini model in collaboration with the designer, thereby increasing its range of small crystal lights. This small cordless lamp, as elegant turned off as it is when it is on, embodies the brand’s luminous signature. Featuring two light temperatures and three levels of intensity, the crystal mini portable lamp is available in three hues of brushed aluminum: light gold, hot silver and subtle copper. It produces a soft and subdued light, and can be used alone or as part of a group, in a living room or on a patio, on a night table or on a garden table. Its delicate light makes it an indispensable object of everyday living.
