Making the Solitaire is a genuine technical feat. To shape its 15-kilo board in clear crystal, as limpid as water, five artisans work on the hot shaping. Two artisans then sandblast the recesses designed to hold the pieces while cold. Thirty-two of these are shaped and given their filigree while hot, from a bundle of ten mass-coloured, double-layered crystal rods prepared in advance by the paperweight workshop. It is to this workshop of fantasy that the creation of the central paperweight (the game's 33rd piece) falls.
