Saint-Louis collaborations

A manufacture that is firmly rooted in its time, Saint-Louis’ crystal creations reflect the expertise inherited from its history, which contemporary designers poetically reflect upon. Since its collaboration with the creator Jean Sala in the 1930s and with Teleri Ann Jones in the 1990s, the Maison has frequently sought out leading figures with a curiosity for this age-old art of fire that they enhance with their contemporary sensibilities.

Created 450 years ago, Saint-Louis places its expertise in the service of creation. Unique techniques that were added to UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage in December 2023 are now magnified to create new kinds of objects like portable lamps. Saint-Louis started discussions with design enthusiasts and has become a benchmark for its time, thereby asserting its focus on everyday objects alongside exceptional pieces.

A wealth of expertise

Saint-Louis regularly calls on contemporary creators, individuals with strong artistic visions who use glassmaking expertise to express their own style, whether this be austere or baroque, delicate or architectural. The Folia collection, inspired by the manufacture’s natural surroundings with Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, monumental works of art for Pierre Marie, contemporary lights with Stefania di Petrillo, etc.

Designers come and take up residence to discover the manufacture’s emblematic expertise, such as the art of hand blowing, the press-and-blow technique and hand cutting and decorating. They immerse themselves in this unique culture before proposing their own designs in response to creative briefs in order to redesign objects and come up with new uses for tableware, decorative arts and lighting. From this encounter with molten crystal comes unique and exceptional pieces, created as true works of art or as everyday objects designed to enhance daily life. Designers take inspiration from the techniques and styles of Saint-Louis that have left their mark on history to design collections that are destined to become new icons and future Saint-Louis classics.
